In the spirit of Valentine’s Day (yeah, I can be a softy), I wrote this simple little sentimental tune…

Sunshine

I recorded it playing Cali, my “new” guitar – the latest love of my life. I found it on this past Christmas Eve in the attic of my good friends’ the Wakefield family in Avon Lake, OH. It had originally been given to my friend Matt’s little sister a number of years back.  Since it was clearly being neglected, they kindly gave it to me. Thanks, guys!

I’m looking forward to do much much more recording with it… 

Well, this is it, folks! Come one, come all! Come for the last time to catch yours truly on stage (at least in any formal organized non-living-room-or-open-mic sense of the word)! The Tonic Room in Lincoln Park has been an intimate, fun, and familiar venue for me the past few years, and on Saturday Dec. 3rd, I’ll be joined on stage by close friends Mike Lang on bass and Chris Ellison on drums. Doors open at 9:00 and we take the stage at 10. Also playing are the bands Indeed (9:00-9:45) and Apollo House (11:00-11:45). The cover is $8.00. Hope y’all can make it!  -Adam R

** NOTE: Don’t go gettin’ all worried that I’m hangin’ up my guitar and vocal chords for good or anything. Not by a long shot. I’ll still be drinkin’ beers, havin’ fun, writing plenty of songs and sharing them whenever I can. I just don’t plan on playing any more formal stage shows. Why? Well, because booking and promoting them simply…just…plain… sucks! Songwriting is fun – no reason it should ever be anything but. Cheers **

I want to take this post to send a big CONGRATULATIONS to my friend Scott Batt and his lovely wife Jessica! I had the great honor of providing the live acoustic music for their wedding ceremony on September 17th, 2011 atop Federal Hill in Baltimore, MD. I also had the pleasure of playing an original song titled “I’d Rather Be” – inspired by their and other friends’ engagements – at the reception.  Thanks, guys, for an amazing weekend and allowing me to play a role in your big day!

Holy last minute gig, Batman!!! I just picked up a full-band show on Saturday Sept. 10th at Subterranean in the Wicker Park neighborhood in Chicago, IL. I know it’s a little last minute, but I could not pass up a chance to play this awesome and very well known venue.

I’m also super excited to be sharing the bill with Jackson Bailey. I’ve known the musicians in that band for a few years now, loved them in Detagoh, and now enjoy Jackson Bailey even more. Great dudes! I owe them all more than a few whiskey shots for gettin’ me onto SubT’s stage.

As for the other logistics, doors open at 8:30pm, I play at 9:00pm and the cover is $10. The band The Second is also playing. And did I mention that Sept 10th is pretty damn soon?!? Well, it is! Hope to see ya soon…

I can’t say enough good things about Uncommon Ground on Clark St. in Chicago, IL. The intimate brick-laden back room and great sound are just so perfect for finely crafted, lyrically driven songs and their songwriters. I had the pleasure of playing here almost exactly a year ago and am so happy to have been asked back. I should also mention the food is incredible…their sweet potato fries can’t be beat! No friggin way!

I’ll be playing Wednesday August 24th.  The address is 1214 W. Grace St. Chicago, IL - located just blocks from Wrigley Field and the Addison Red Line Stop. My set starts at 8pm, and admission is free…that’s right, FREE!…however, seating is limited, so I recommend calling (773) 929-3680 to make a reservation. Or, hey, just get there early.

I have the great pleasure that night of opening up for Glittered & Mauled, a lovely female duo hailing all the way New York City – y’know, that big crazy chaotic city way out east?

First off, THANK YOU SO MUCH to those of you that came out to my show at Schubas on June 22nd and made it such a fun, unforgettable evening! I can’t wait to see ya at the next one… and what a fun one that one’s gonna be as well…  Know how I know??? It’s only at my favorite pub on the planet…That’s how! Here’s the deal…

A close friend of mine has organized a fundraiser for Excelencia School of Chicago which (with our help-that includes YOU) will be opening this upcoming school year. The Hidden Shamrock in Lincoln Park, Chicago, has been kind enough to provide the atmosphere, friendly faces, stage, and many many pints for it! The event will be Thursday July 21st and will start at 8pm and for your $12 donation, you’ll get their $1.00 draft special, a chance at raffle prizes, and of course live music from yours truly. Also playing will be the very fun Josh & the Empty Pockets.
